This my friends is not just a movie title... it's true to life. Babysitting... it is an adventure. If you don't think so... try an overnight sit. Well, my story begins with one pregnant sister, and three rug rats. Nic called me to come babysit her kiddo's the night she went into labor. I went over there knowing I would be spending the night. Upon arrival I rushed in the house (most would think it was to relieve the pregnant sister so she could in turn rush to the hospital, NO) to claim the television because Nic and Dave were at the store getting milk and I HAD to watch the Jazz game. Davey doesn't really like sports, and I was determined. I watched the game and cheered and played with the kiddies at the same time. Keili and Miley acutally cheered with me. Miley sat on my lap the entire time clapping from time to time, while Keilers would cheer, pretty much just repeating all the yelling and cheering I was doing (she'll be attending a game with me for sure). As the night progressed, we had our fun, and laughs of course. Davey wanted to watch a movie. He was rooting for Space Chimps, and I was thinking "oh kill me now", and I was rooting for Horton hears a who. I even tried to get Keili on my side, but she could have cared less. Well the movie (snoozer) finished at about 11:30pm. I was shocked at the time, and told them it was well past beddy bye time. Then Nic called and asked her how to get her kids to go to sleep. Miley had fallen asleep during the movie (shocker!), and so she was out out of the woods. Keili and Davey, they showed no signs of near tiredness. NIc told me to put them in bed and put on a movie. She plays the amazing Diner Dash (thank you Rustin and Sarah for introducing that into our lives) and they will fall asleep. This I tried, with NO success. Keili was wiggling all over the place, Davey was on the top bunk doing the same. The movie finished, and it was 2:00am. I finally climbed in bed with Keili so she would lay still. I was so tired at this point. I even told Keili (Nic, cover your eyes) "if you don't go to sleep, I'm slippin' you some drugs!" Davey just laughed and this is when I climbed into bed with her, oh, after getting her a drink of chocolate milk she was begging for. (I'm sure all you moms know what that is about to equal in like 3 hours). Keili finally fell asleep and at 2:30am, Davey was still wired. Of course he tried to tell me, in a classic -I'm smarter than you- way, that "this is what time my Mom has me get up". To which I tilted my head and gave him the 'I was born at night, but it wasn't last night' look, and said "uh... actually this is the time that your mom wants to rip her hair out because you are still awake". I finally told him that I was going to bed because I needed sleep (knowing that Miley would be waking up soon, and I'd have to give her a bottle). Well I shut off the light, climbed into bed, and Miley started to make "wake up" noises. Sure enough she started crying. I got her out of her crib as she cried out "momma, momma..." and hugged me. I got her a bottle and tried to calm her. Not a chance. She cried and cried. I layed her in bed with me and she hugged me and cried herself to sleep, she actually cried me to sleep as well (oops). Then at about 6:30am. Keili comes in wimpering and climbs in the bed with Mo and I. He cuddles up next to me and is soaking wet...dunt-da-da-da... Chocalate milk presents itself!!! Keili had wet the bed, either that or the chocolate milk multiplied and replenished all over her body. I jumped up, after about falling over from being so tired and half asleep still, and told her we needed to change her clothes. She helped me find new panties (who knew there night pull-ups under Nic's bed-LOL), and she climbed in bed. We both fell back asleep. Then, about 7:30am, she wakes me up and says "Tahn, I found a little tiny spider." I, of course, jump up...literally... because I am deathly afraid of spiders. And look around, blinking often to wake up, and she lays back down, and falls asleep instantly. Did she dream that? What the.... I fell back asleep. I then woke up to Dave calling me the next morning. When I saw NIc the next day, she laughed and said... "So Tahn, was that birth control enough for you?" I in turn said "NO, but if my kids aren't asleep by 10pm, I'm drugging those little suckers! Out comes the benadryl!!!"
Needless to say, it was fun, and an adventure, and WELCOME BACK TO SINGLE LIFE WHERE EVERYTHING IS ABOUT YOURS TRULY!!! Lol!!! See... there is a reason that they start (typically) one at a time, and young where all they do is sleep, eat, and poo. You grow into the rest. I was thrown into the Lions Den all at once. I'd do it again though to help out, and cause I love those little "deprive aunt Tahnee from sleep and make her want to slit her wrists" cuties!!!
